Trip to Texas

If you don't know already, Paul and I have been delayed here in Altus. Paul was supposed to be done with everything Dec. 8, but because of weather and other factors, his last day has been pushed back. It all depends on the flight line, and they have been way behind. He should be done by Dec. 18 though.

The good news is that we were able to go on a trip last weekend to Dallas, TX with our church here to see a Christmas concert. Paul really wanted to go, but we thought we'd be gone. When we found out we'd be here, we purchased the last 2 tickets! Paul and I were the youngest ones on the trip, with many people probably in their 70's. But we were overwhelmed by the friendliness and kindness of these church folks! Everyone wanted to meet us and introduce themselves! It was very touching. The group of people we ended up hanging out with the most were about our parents' age. They called themselves the "rowdy group" and they were absolutely hilarious. We were entertained the whole time.

In Dallas, we had several hours to do some Christmas shopping at a local mall, then we checked into our hotel. For dinner, we split up into groups and ate at nearby restaurants. On Saturday, there was time to do more shopping before the concert. Then we loaded the bus for the main event, which was being held on the campus of Texas Christian University. The picture here is of Paul with a Horned Frog, their mascot. The group that performed was "The Vocal Majority Chorus," which is comprised of more than 100 men from the Dallas area. They sing a cappella and with orchestral accompaniment. One group that was featured in the show was an a cappella group called Acoustix. They did some barbershop quartet numbers that were wonderful. The whole concert was sensational! These men know how to sing! It certainly got me in the Christmas mood! After the concert, we headed back to Altus. What a great weekend!
