Happy National Dance Day!

If you didn't know this already about me, I love dance - all kinds of dance! I love to watch it on TV, in movies, in live performances, etc. I also love to dance, but I usually only do that in my house when I'm alone. I used to dance more, but I think it scares Paul, so I try to refrain when he's around :-) He gives me that look like I'm crazy and asks "what are you doing???" Oh well. Maybe if I took dance lessons, like I've always wanted to do, he wouldn't have to ask that question. Anyway, I love the show "So You Think You Can Dance" and have been watching it since season 2. If you also watch, you'll know that executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe declared July 31 as National Dance Day to generate awareness for dance and promote health and wellness. I actually learned the Nappytab routine...did you? You can find it here or on the Dizzy Feet Foundation website.

I am excited to announce that Caleb has started dancing in the last 2 weeks...just in time for me to post this for National Dance Day! He has done it a little here and there when he's heard music for several months now, but it was usually when he was sitting down - he would sort of bounce up and down to the beat. Well, now that he's standing and walking, he can actually bend his knees and get his groove on! It's so adorable, I could just eat him up! This little video shows him bustin' a move to his farm toy music...the old classic, "Old McDonald." The second part of the video shows what he does when he hears the intro for SYTYCD. We don't usually let him watch TV, but occasionally he'll see a little. Maybe he's the next "America's Favorite Dancer!" He's certainly my favorite dancer! But I'm a little partial.

My crazy boys!

Our neighbors across the street (they recently moved and we miss them!) gave us a bunch of toys and items for Caleb. One was a little red tricycle. It's one of those old fashioned metal kinds that are so cute. Daddy decided he couldn't wait for Caleb to get big enough to reach the pedals, so they took it for a spin together! The poor tricycle!

Froggy Pool Fun

Caleb got a froggy pool for his birthday. It's a blow-up pool with a little shade canopy. We pulled it out at the beginning of June to try it out, and he loved it! Check out his funny cackle about 27 seconds into it, when Daisy runs by!

Old videos

I just recently found a few videos I never got around to posting. Sorry they're kinda old. The first one is Caleb blowing bubbles in his water, which was a fascination of his in March. I was really quite proud of him, since in my OT days, I used to work on oral motor skills with some 2 year olds that had a hard time doing this.

This second one is him pushing around a little toy car that my cousin, Krista-Leigh, gave him when he was born. He really likes it! The video is from early May, when he was still crawling around everywhere.

This one is also from May. It's a variety of silly things Caleb does that make us laugh.

New Camera

OK. I hope to get a few more things posted in the next few days, but for now, I just have to share this picture. I recently purchased a new digital SLR camera, a Canon EOS 50D, which I have been wanting for quite some time. I also bought Photoshop Elements from a friend. This is partly why it has taken me so long to post pictures...I'm trying to figure out all the new software! But I got one picture done and figured out how to get it down to size so that it's not a huge file to post. Here is my cutie pie playing in his froggy pool at my mom's place. We went to visit "Grammie" for about a week and a half at the beginning of the month. I took so many pictures that day, just playing around with my camera with different settings, etc. It was a lot of fun! I am LOVING this camera so far!

Walking milestones

Eventually I will get this blog up to date. Where did June and July go? For now, I'm posting a few videos I recently edited.

On May 20, Caleb took his first few steps into Daddy's arms! I got the video camera right away, but we couldn't get him to do it again quite like that. However, I did get a few steps on video.

This is a video from April 18, when he first walked with a chair for balance. He still enjoys pushing things!
